Replacing the radiator....

Ok! So in an attempt to dodge the pink milkshake..i'm going to replace my radiator...on my own..:wow:.

With ya'lls help I decided to go with a denso from amazon (horribly packed..but appears undamaged.)

My question is this: What else should I replace that isn't terribly difficult to do for someone who isn't crazy mechanically inclined?

So far I've heard...upper and lower radiator hoses, radiator cap (is this really necessary?) and my thermostat. Anything else?

If you haven't replaced your Lower ball joints, do those next. OEM parts ONLY. They are pretty easy to replace and it's a pretty straight forward job.

The general consensus here is to replace LBJ's every 100k miles to be safe, they can break with zero warning. If one does break, it could cause a serious or even deadly accident.

Diff fluid, tranny fluid, transfer case fluid.

Basic tune up (spark plugs, air filter). There is plenty more but this should be a good start.

Post the details of your truck btw, (year, mileage etc).

Thank you! I am replacing the UCA's so that takes care of the UBJ's but I didn't really know that LBJ's could break without warning. I am at 150k. Will order those next!

Thermostat gasket (Fel-Pro 35445)
Toyota Genuine Fluid 00272SLLC2 Long Life Coolant

Make sure thermostat jiggle valve is in 6pm position.

I agree on the thermostat gasket. The thermostat doesn't include it. However I would go Oem. It's only a few dollar part anyway. I would do a full flush of the cooling system before removing the old radiator. Flush the heater core and block and reservoir. Just get everything nice and clean before putting all the new parts on and filling with new coolant. YouTube should be a good resource to give you instruction.

I can't for the life of me find the OEM gasket. Do you know if they are available?

I got mine from Amazon. Toyota part # 16325-62010
