Retrofit headlights

Hey guys making this post to share with you guys my retrofit headlights, i absolutely love these things and they are worth every penny and I think it’s safe to say are my favorite mod. RVS Built is a newer company and I was skeptical about using a newer builder but after talking to him we actually became friends (I helped build his Shopify website also) he was kind enough to actually put a code in the system for anyone who I give the code to it will save them $50 off their purchase. Highly recommend you guys check him out and his work, the paint work is very nice on the inside and he adjusts them for you so when you get them if anything you have some MINOR adjusting to do to the headlights. Great company and a great guy. Lead times are very low since he is a new company and I had my retrofits at my door not 2 weeks after ordering

Looks good and pretty competitively priced. I would give my third nut for someone to make our corner lights match the look of projectors somehow, pretty much the only thing that's keeping me from getting a pair.

I'm very much a function over form kinda guy, but this is my boundary. Maybe I'll give in some day, maybe I'll just go out of my way to not drive at night or slow way down if I must drive at night.

me to, that’s the only picture i envision when i see projectors in 3rd gens. would love the upgrade though

I agree they look a bit odd, but its hard to argue with the light output of them.

On mine I used a pre-MCA reflector with a post-MCA glass which I think made for a pretty clean look.

Along with blacking out the original chrome reflector areas and shrouds, painting the projector cutoff shields black at the front-facing side helps hide "bug eye" look and does not affect light output. It's known as "passive demon eyes" among the projector retrofit crowd.

Here's an example. The white areas in the lens are just reflections from the table surface; stripped the chrome finish off the shroud by soaking in Purple Power cleaner, glossy black surface was beneath the original chrome finish - I later scuffed with a scotchbrite pad then painted satin black.

I am considering doing the retrofit, but I am new to the DIY scene and not sure how to go about the wiring. Is this something I should stay away from? The wiring harness and bassets don't look too hard but I have no clue how to wire in the switchbacks.

Funny this thread got bumped, I was just thinking about it doing a retrofit the other day. I wonder if anyone's done it with the square shaped shrouds yet, and if that would look better in our square headlights...

Somebody on here I believe used some square ditch lights for theirs, one for the headlight and one as a turn signal and while it looks unconventional I think it turned out really well. Unfortunately they sold (or were attempting) to sell their rig so I'm not entirely sure what happened with it
 
For anyone who has done a retrofit, did you have issues with the projectors bouncing or vibrating a little over bumps in the road? If so, how did you solve this? The lock ring on the back of my housing is as tight as I could get it.

I thought about drilling a small hole in the bottom of the housings under the projectors and jb welding a nut on the outside bottom and using a small stainless screw to act as a jack screw to support and help finetune the projectors.

Did you use the included silicone rings? I don't use them, once I had the projector rotation right I applied some JB Stik between the projector bowl and headlight, let it cure overnight, then powered them up (outer lenses still not installed) in case there was any uncured JB or oils from my fingers to burn off. Are you sure they're really bouncing/vibrating? Sometimes the sharp cutoff of aftermarket clear lens projectors makes it appear to bounce over bumps.

You can do that. Many retrofitters use the "nut and bolt" technique to install projectors instead of shaft mount to ensure they're mounted nice and tight
 
I might try pulling them apart in a few weeks and removing the silicone ring.
Pretty sure they are bouncing/vibrating over road bumps and it's very distracting. This is my first retrofit so I'm still learning about the little things with them. The light output is awesome though.

I had one that was vibrating like crazy, and it was one of the mounts in the corner had broken free even though I had JB Welded it when I built them and was vibrating over bumps.
