Agreed, going with white housing would have looked just "ok", but in keeping with my theme they needed to match as close as possible. Think it came out pretty good.

I once had a 1975 Ford Elite that I installed a pair of 110,000 Candlepower, GE 4509 Bulbs behind the grill....

never remember anyone doing something like that of that intensity.
Later upgraded to Hella 500's on a Toyota Truck in 1984......
Swapped lights to newer Toyota Trucks....up to the FJ, then to light bars.

I'll be doing the same thing soon. I already bought the switch from Slee. There's a lot of tailgaters in little imports here in SoCal. The switch will enable me to blast them in the face. Also, I'd like to have some lighting during boating season on those days we stay out to late and need to get the boat on the trailer when it's dark.
My thoughts exactly! Tons if little imports in SoCal always trying to speed and tail gate, this mod might just come in handy!

I remember those lights, they were crazy bright. Remember Hella's competition off road replacement headlights, of course not DOT legal? The combination of reflector design and light diffusion created a horizontal line (cut off) of light that rivals current projector systems. Then install 100 watt low beam / 150 watt high beam bulbs..........talk about daylight at night!!!!!! Best light money could buy in there day.
I still have 2 Hella 7" rectangular headlights in a 82' Ford one ton, and a 7" round in my 1978 Kawasaki KZ 1000.

I'm coming back to this thread because I think I'm ready to do this mod as well. Though I think I'll approach it differently...slightly.
You used the SR-Q (Not going back to confirm) Where as I would like to use the SRM2 - which is a "flood" light (92211).
Additionally, in and around town my reverse lights are adequate so the only time I'd need these is if I'm up in the mountains / off road. So I'm thinking switch to turn them on whereas you're using the diffused model model and could use them tied to the brake lights all the time.
Last difference and I'll have to measure here - I've got a Trail and that useless plastic piece is on the back - that will push my install location further apart I think and not exactly point in the straight back. (unless I ditch that useless plastic?)
