Reverse Light Switch

I have a problem. I need to get my inspection done on my Yota and the reverse lights do not work. I checked the bulbs and they work find. I checked the switch on the transmission and I can make the lights come on with it removed. Once installed in the vehicle, it will not work. This sensor is about 1 year old. Is there an adjustment to the rod in the transmission without tearing it all apart. Could the reverse rod be broken? Please help. Can't dodge the police for long.

I'm afraid, if the switch is not the problem, the tranny must be torn apart.
I can look into my manuals later today and see if I can find anythin' 'bout this. :)
Perhaps some other has an online manual on the internet?

Thank you for your response. I was afraid of having to tear the trany apart. Guess there isn't much choice.

When I think of this abit more, maybe there is something accessible from the top of the transmission, i.e. through the plate on the shifter, on the transmission.

Check out the pm I sent you and see if you can find anything in the repair manuals before tearing everything apart.
