I see 4X offers a bumper filler plate now. I've been wanting to cover that gap up since I got this bumper like 6 years ago.

Anyone have the bumper filler plate? [MENTION=5345]habanero[/MENTION] I think you have it?

Does it only mount to the bumper in 6 locations or does it mount to the vehicle somewhere too? Maybe it can't because of frame vs body flex. Does the filler plate seem sturdy?

We both put them on our respective bumpers Feb '20. They do mount to the bumper only and there's a gap between bumper and body to allow for movement, but not enough that I have to worry about the dogs' legs getting caught. The plates (2) are sturdy, not thin, and as you said, held on by bolts. Because of where it's at not much weight is put on it. The earlier bumpers like ours are not pre-drilled, you've gotta figure out that for yourself. I measured twice, stopped jumping on the bed, and had at it.

My everything is iced up today so here's a pic right after install,
one that shows the gap (missing trim because was doing a thing),
and lastly what it looks like with the hatch closed. I promise that I swapped out for matching black bolts after a junkyard run...

From the right angle you can see (grey driveway) between the hatch and bumper wing, if you look just above and between the air chuck and hatch. It doesn't cover that little spot. I never notice.

I went ahead and ordered it. Under $60 shipped, I probably couldn't get the raw material for that much.

I think I'm sold! I'm getting ready to get the swingout, Sliders and that gap cover.
