Has anyone done this before? Where would I look to rewire this? I'd like to rewire the rear cigarette lighter to an always hot connection to an auxiliary battery in a dual battery setup. I believe it is rated to 15amps in the fuse box currently, but this is also a bit of information that I'm curious about as well.
Disconnect the existing factory supply wires from the back of the socket and add a new pair dedicated wires to your AUX fuse panel.
This way you can preserve the factory wiring should you need to revert back for any reason.
Alternately, you could look for the wiring diagram and cut/splice somewhere convenient to use the existing wiring but personally I think that's more complicated because I don't like messing with and disassembling factory harnesses/looms to get at wires.
You could also just add more outlets somewhere else... move onto some Anderson plugs and get urself a solid power system back there.
I kept everything factory and just added Anderson quick disconnects in and around the truck so I can have a larger and more reliable power system.
These types of connectors allow you to actually run real power... I can plug this into any one of those 3 outlets.
how about just run a good 4 gauge wire from the front and use that instead of the stock wires, also youll be ready for future upgrades?
i think the wires are too thin and you can cause a fire.
