On my personal retrofit thread for my 4th gen will give u some ideas on how much i had to mod, this is for 06-09 halogen projectors, so it should make you do it faster. I still need to jbweld my passenger side, my driver side is all done permenently.

Hey no worries, plastic lenses are actually better for projector retrofits, we're just stuck with the glass on our 3rd gen's. All of the newer lenses are in fact, plastic and are much more durable than the glass plus they can be re-finished once they start to "haze." PM me if your interested in getting something going for your Tacoma!
UPDATE: I just polished off another set of 3rd Gen. 4Runner headlights for a customer. They turned out pretty cool so I thought I would share:

This is the exact setup I was thinking about when I was looking at the options on TRS (the blue halo and Panamera shroud) and I really wanted to see how it looked. And wow! It looks great! Although I think I'd keep the reflectors chrome if at all possible. Do you have any pictures of the car it went on to after it was installed? I'd love to see how it looked afterwards if you could get some.
But I've read through this thread and it alone has inspired me to retrofit my car. It looks like a ton of fun (I like to tinker). Once I gather the money, this will definitely be my next project!

Thanks! Those Panamera shrouds and Halo's look great together. Unfortunately I do not have any photos of the lights installed on his truck.

Amazing retrofit on the 4th gen, i really like the addition of the amber corner light! [MENTION=75328]DannyLlama[/MENTION] this guy is TOP NOTCH if you are still interested in having a retrofit, cannot go wrong with addison.

Yes the shrouds come chrome from TRS, and its perfectly fine to leave the chrome finish on the original reflector housing.
