Metal fatigue is relative to the amount of relative movement of the metal.

The rear springs move a lot more (1:1 motion ratio) than the front springs (1.7:1 or so), even though they are about the same total length of wire.

If designed right, springs shouldn't wear out (within reason).

So are new springs worth it since I already need to assemble the strut? Or I could just reuse my existing ‘00 coil on a higher perch on the 5100?

If you can afford new spring and shocks (all around) it's probably the best way to go, but you can try anything if you're willing to tear it apart a few times

It's wild watching them bend when you compress the springs but it works lol
