Right front axle question

I am replacing the right front axle and the oil seal in the diff needs changing. Actually the seal was bad and the CV was leaking so I decided to change the CV along with the seal. Can anyone tell me how deep to push the new seal in? I tried search and came up with nothing.

If replacing a cv axle you should push it in with the splines lined up till the c ring snaps in place. Take it for a test drive if it makes loud clicking sound when you turn then its not all the way in.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I am asking if anyone knows how deep to press or push the new oil seal into the diff?

Thanks

Did you not mark in the diff how far it seats in there? I just changed an axle today and I want to say between 3/4" and 1"; I would think that the diff has a grove in which it resides in.

I did look at it, but the PO had some shoddy work done, thus the axle leaking so I am making sure about depth.

Thanks

If anyone is interested, I installed the seal just flush with the end of the differential tube. I bought the seal from the dealer for $16.50.
So far no leaks. I also replaced the axle while I had it apart. Also the front diff fluid got changed at the same time. Killed THREE birds with one stone.
