RIGID 30" light bar behind the grille with NO brackets

i have been seeing the thread over and over keep surfacing to the top about "who wants a behind the grille light bar mount" and i have never read thru the 30 pages, it may already be someone selling a kit BUT on the 4runners you dont need any special brackets ect. i have had mine done since feburaray or march. when i did it, i did not loom the wires or anything i just threw it on to go to a ride one weekend. i just took it apart yesterday to loom everything and make it somewhat pretty. works like a champ. i love this setup. kinda wished i had a single row light, so it would mount flush under the center emblem. the double row kinda hides behind the emblem but the double row throws so much light out in front of you it is so worth it having the double row in.

















the plastic piece that directs air to the radiator is the perfect width to mount the light in between. i did not have to heat, bend, or manipulate the plastic in any way. the 30" bar literally fell right into place. i just had to hold it still and mark where i wanted to drill the bolt holes

Question. Where do the feet attach to the body or sheet metal? Does the light rattle and vibrate when you drive over bumps?

been so long since i mounted it i cant tell you. those plastic ears i believe mount to the radiator support with bolts. i cant remember though. i do remember they are very stout. they are hard to bend out of the way. the bottom of the light is sitting directly on top of the lower part of the grille. so the light has a solid surface that keep it level and keeps it from moving or bouncing. the light is solid as steel. you cant reach in and grab it or move it. its mounted solid. no bouncing, no jittering, its as solid as the headlights of the vehicle.

OP, suggest you don't drive anywhere near Southern Cali :spy:

it just so happens i make a trip to southern cali twice a year. any particular reason you suggest not to drive to southern cali cause i got another trip comin up thanksgiving. some crazy law they have like no cell phone calls while driving? i already gotta ticket two years ago for driving while talkin on a cell phone.

I'm guessing cause you've blocked 50% of your airflow to the radiator? I'm worried with nothing in my grills about airflow in Oklahoma. It can get to 140 out on the blacktop here.

I agree with that. We hit the 120s this year where I live in the Mojave Desert. I'm thinking if I installed a light bar like that my 4R would boil over in short time.

THe light bar shouldn't effect cooling even in the slightest bit unless you have something really wrong with your truck, the fan still sucks a ton of air through the radiator and air is still forced through the grill and around the light at when the truck is at speed.

I think Dave's ( [MENTION=6163]phillyd2[/MENTION] ) comment was more of a clever joke pertaining to the grill lights. :evil:
