Rigid foam panel roof rack

This may be a total brain fart, but I scrolled past an insulation kit for RV's or van conversions, and that pretty much looked like either stick-on reflection, or a rigid foam insulation panel.

Has anyone ever stuck a rigid foam panel underneath a full length roof rack? They're like an R value of 5 or something with a reflective backer on. Dumb? Untapped potential?

Interesting. The old school G-Wagens (I’m talking way back in the ‘80’s, pre-G500) had a “desert roof” option. Basically it was just a second layer of roof-shaped sheet metal stood off of the regular roof by about an inch.

I remember my parents RV had a molded 2 inch styrofoam liner on the roof.
