Seriously though I'm glad that you are ok. I'm sure that youre thankful for both your airbag and your seatbelt. Make sure that you wear it at all times fellas. Again, I'm glad you and yours are ok.

I am sorry for your loss. :( the upside is that you get a decades worth of upgrades when you get an 06!

I noticed you had clear corners... did you have them on the back, too? I would be interested in those.

clear corners on the back? like the cleared early 3rd gen tail lights

I was just throwing that out there. I hadn't checked to see if there were even seperate turn signals on the back...I just looked and there isn't. So I guess I mean clear taillights, not corners. :)

My God! I'm glad you survived that crash with only cuts and buises! It really is a testament to how well the t4r is put together. Good luck with the 4th gen!

mike,

you are right, I did have clear corners and turn signals. I had upgraded the headlight assembly to the '01 style, but I had not done any work to the tail lights.

I have my new 4th gen. 4Runner now and man it is awesome. It is amazing what a decade of changes can do to a vehicle!

do you remember when your face hit the airbag? ive always wondered if that hurt at all, ive been in plenty of serious wrecks in my car just none were around the airbag sensors.

No, I was knocked unconscious when the car flipped (which I assume is when both airbags deployed). I can tell you parts of my face were swollen a bit for 2 or 3 days and my face had a few marks similar to carpet burn or something. All in all I don't think my face looked THAT bad considering what happened. I've seen people look much worse after a stupid bar fight or something, haha. My left eye still has a bit that is bloodshot from the shock or concussion but I've heard it can take a while to go away.

One more thing... I got a copy of the police report and it says that my car flipped 2 and 3/4 times.

I had my side airbag deploy when my vehicle was t-boned. I never saw the airbag while it was inflated, but I do remember for a brief second I felt like I was being pushed from the side. My eyeglasses were on crooked and bent after the crash. There was some smoke residue as the airbag deflated, and that was it.

I have handled many patients where the front airbag deployed, including my own 70 year old mother, and frequently they looked like they were punched by a boxer. Rings have gotten bent, wrists have been sprained and broken from the airbags (especially the first generation airbags), and many folks have had abrasions like rug burns from the airbags. However, they usually look a lot better even with the airbag injuries than they would have without the airbag.

Yeah, I had that dust stuff from the airbag on my face as well. Looked like dirt or something.

Just wanted to say I'm jealous you are in Oak Ridge, Atomic4Runner... I spent about a year in the Knoxville/Maryville area and would go back in a heartbeat!
Nice looking 4Runner, too... looks like mine.

:jaw drop: WoW, to echo everyone else, glad you're OK and Big Ups to the Tropers who nailed that guy, hope he does some time for that one.....Any crash you can walk away from.......

When you get the 4Th Gen, you'll have all these airbags deploy, at least it should be safer!
Peace=out!

Hey, there's no time like the present to move back... more folks are moving in than moving out! No state income tax, great weather, low cost of living... and some really great trails to play on with your 4Runner.
