Well, I got back from MOAB a few days ago, here is the trip report.
The group I went with was the New Mexico chapter of Tacomaworld, we had 5 trucks go. We met up with the Main Tacomaworld group in MOAB, Utah at Area BFE.
The trip was very fun, but driving 7 hours each way sucked. I did manage to average 22.1 mpg for the ENTIRE TRIP. This includes all the 50 miles of 4-Lo rock crawling..
The trails we ran were:
-Trifecta (Poison spider, Golden spike, Gold rim)
-7 Mile
We were gonna run Fin's-n-Things, but I had to leave a day early.
About my preparations:
Everything worked perfectly! Thanks to the low profile wheel well bolts and the bumper, I had ZERO rubbing during the entire trip. And I am confident in saying that I would have a lot of body damage if it were not for my bumper and sliders. I know for a fact that bumper would be torn to pieces! Also with that new radiator and the trans cooler in series, both temps stayed very cool despite the hot ambient temps and hard work. My water temp never exceeded 192*, and my trans averaged at like 160*. Those are very impressive numbers considering the work I was doing..
I am also very glad I had my CB radio, we were CONSTANTLY talking back and forth. I would have lost the group a few times without it.
This was pretty much the case for the entire 600 mile round trip..
It was a very scenic drive.

That engine noise you hear is the static tensioner pulley for the supercharger. Yeah its pretty worn out and I will be getting a dynamic tensioner in a few weeks, if not less.
This video is the same obstacle in the first part of the previous video from a different angle, the part at the end is that runaway jeep again..

Solar Eclipse: May 20th, 2012.
I don't know how many other's stay up to date with this kind of stuff, but on sunday may 20th there was a solar eclipse.
The cool thing about it was that Albuquerque was the only major US city directly in the center line of the eclipse's path. Meaning that we all got a perfectly centered view of the eclipse.
I tried to take pictures with the truck during the height of the event, but that didn't work out too well..
The important thing to remember is.. While that may look like just another sunset, its actually a Annular Solar eclipse. I just suck at taking pictures, lol.

Looks like it was a good trip. Where are the camp pics, fire pics, and most importantly the pictures of shenanigans!?
I'm curious about this picture too... I've heard the crack is hard to get across without at least one locker... Did VSC/TRAC get you through? Was it the Hulk-like strength of the dude pushing on your rig? Or did you have to take a strap? (please say no.)

The front bumper looks good, but get some paint on that thing. (EDIT) I just went back and re-read the bumper post. Looks like you had some similar issues to mine w/the whole fitment process. Sucks don't it? What did you guys do to get yours fixed up?
The cargo box came out pretty cherry by the way, I like what you did with the format.

LOL. All the shenanigans were had by the drunken re****s camping next to us that were open carrying the whole time and doing doughnuts in the lot.. The ABQ cop that was with us was glad to handcuff them to trees for the night. haha.
On the crack, I never did get TRAC working before the trip and no I did no get strapped. So I got through Open-Open on my own
Just took some finessing with the Ebrake and foot brakes and working the gas.
Paint is coming very soon, Ill be getting the paint tomorrow.

Sneaky, sneaky..
yeah I emailed him about it, still waiting on a response. My plan is to try and heat up the metal and use some C-clamps to bend it up that little tiny bit. Or maybe just do what you did and clearance the holes. Either way I expect to get some money back for this. I just don't have anywhere near the patience you do to wait for another bumper.
It sure is close, but actual paint matching will look 100x better!

Had a rare rainy day yesterday.
With the fall colors, perfect lighting, and wet everything it was a good time for a driveway poser photo shoot!
Your driveway is absolutely beautiful! These are amazing pictures, they bring me a warm fuzzy feeling. I hope I can get some pictures of my 4r like this some day.

I just purchased a 2001 SR5 4WD w/ 61k a few weeks ago. I have been looking around the forums to see what kind of things I could do to it and saw a picture of yours with the front bumper! Damn, what a sweet addition. Funny thing is that I have seen your 4Runner on YouTube and coincidentally ran into yours on the forums.

Its not much heavier than the stock one, I'd say another 10-15 pounds tops.
The sliders, however, were an extra 35 pounds per side! :wow:

Its the only one I liked because it was the most low profile of the plate bumpers. All the others stuck out WAY too far.
And even with its low profile, I still scrapped it on the crack.
Thanks! It was a fun obstacle.
Its minor damage that I will cherish as a memory.
