Green with envy, I especially like the Shrockworks bumper... well that and its supercharged. Looking forward to when I will be able to shell out for that and possibly a Persson rear to compliment. You've heard it before but that is an AWESOME truck!

It's even funnier in the Ozarks. Was driving the other day, and in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the Ozark 'mountains' I saw one of those 'falling rocks' signs.

I thought "From where? Is there a cartoon boulder hiding somewhere?" LOL

I couldn't agree more. I love Colorado and the Rockies but NM is a close second.

Its hilarious to see what they define as "mountains" here in Virginia, it definitely makes me miss the southwest.

idk if you know this but our mountains all the way down to the manzanos (and maybe further) are actually part of the rocky mountain cluster. each mountains name is just the name of the little section of mountains. most people dont know that.

Ive used it a few times pulling out people who slid off the road in a few recent storms

Sorry but I was confused a bit on your comment above regarding wiring of the temp and speed sensors to the VSC (ABS) ECU:
"Here is a diagram of the back of the ABS unit. For 99+ 4runners it is located under the driver's dash. The Blue/Grey temp sensor wire is in the V18 plug, I'm pretty sure it was the slot number 17 on that plug.
Just remember that it is the only Blue/Grey wire on the entire ABS unit."
Then you commented "Blue/Grey speed sensor wire located" above the pic of what looks to me as the V18 plug.
So I was confused as to which wire is in V18, slot 17 - the temp sensor or speed sensor? I'm assuming its the speed sensor since its in the VSC ECU. If so, then where is the temp sensor wire located that you tapped into? I have an '02 SE as well and was hoping to use the pre-wired exterior ambient air temp sensor (black/blue and gray wires at exterior plug) but not sure where the other end of that wire is located under the dash?

Fixed, its the speed sensor. The temp sensor wiring for the field monitor doesn't go through the ECU, its on its own. You just use the wires coming from the field monitor and run them strait to a new exterior temp sensor, thats it.

Update:

Nothing new quite yet but as some of you know I have been looking into redoing my rear shock mounting again.

I have been researching a great deal on rear suspension setups. I have had the truck up on jacks, flexing and extending in each direction and taking tons of measurements. At this point I am almost ready for my next project on this truck, and its rear long travel.

I am confident I can set up a system with the following parts:
-12" travel Fox factory series shocks w/ resi on custom built shock towers
-Rebuild links again with rod end joints
-limit strap setup
-properly extended bump stops
-extended brake lines
-build extended sway bar endlinks w/disconnects.


I hope to have this project completed Moab at the end of may, probably wont start gathering parts for another month.

Oh I've also had this thought a TON of times.... I would love to start a new project but knowing how eff'ed I'd get on re-sale highly discourages that thought. Better to start a new project and turn the Duster into a SAS'd exo-cage'd Hammers crawler. haha
