On second thought, that one wouldn’t allow you to service the shock. Fail.
It would need to have an open front, which is doable.
This skid is a weld-on to the axle, though - is there actual interest in that?

Maybe [MENTION=135317]rkntoy[/MENTION] will chime in but he has a pretty good idea and design that he tested on the Dusy. He seemed to be very happy with it.
It's not a weld on but uses the factory bolt. Check page 8 of this build thread. That's where we started talking about it.
I think just using the bolt would be plenty sufficient. One way to improve upon his idea is to have a boxed front, angled slightly down. A hole would be drilled in the front of the box to allow the stock bolt to be inserted and tightened. It might put stress on the bolt but I think it would be plenty strong and the user could carry a spare lower shock bolt just in case.

Do you think I would need to run additional reinforcement up to the frame to prevent what I did to mine? I landed on the link close to the mount with a bit of lateral force.

I doubt it; these are 3/16 plate, & welded along the edges. You'd have to twist the ears length-wise against the spine of the ramp - I don't see it happening.
But I'll take a look at the rear of the mount in the morning - it's entirely possible that an end plate could be included as an additional lateral reinforcement there, certainly worth the look.

Sorry for the delay. Been busy fighting other battles with the rig. lol
The King lower shock mount is 2". That was an eyeball from widest point to widest point. There's really no way to get a straight edge in there but my eyes pretty good.

Are you going to extend the tongue? Let that be your guide on the spare placement - you need all the turning radius you can get so you can jackknife the trailer as much as possible.

It's a Gem Top Commercial cover for a 2014 Nissan Frontier. Craigslist find for $100. Eventually (after cyclocross season) it is getting a rack as low as I can get it while still allowing access and then side bars just above the wheel opening for when I slide it around trees.
The tongue is getting extended quite a bit - and a different towing system than a 1 7/8 ball. But hey - the trailer was only $250.
