Proper panhard geometry. 3 links kind of get a bad reputation because of how the axle translates side to side but with the proper mount geometry and an adjustable bar its pretty easy to get them to have a pretty negligible amount of translation. the big thing most guys miss when setting them up is by setting them up at ride height rather than the "mid travel" point. For Elliots truck I modified one of eimkeiths pcks and paired with the adjustable bar he had quite a bit of room between the tank and driveshaft.

Okay, If I understand what you are asking correctly, here are some rough measurements. I would have crawled under to try to get a better visual, but it is night time, and I jacked up my knee at work. This should be close if they are the numbers you seek.

I added a few pics that give a little bit of a picture of what they look like from a few different angles. For reference, Stubbs said that he offered them angled a couple different ways. I wasn't so concerned with making them looked tucked up against the vehicle. I also wanted to be able to use them as a step. He recommended, I think 7 degrees. If I did it again, I would be tempted to order them flat. To me this might offer a bit more stand off room for rocks and trees and be a bit better of a step up.

I can try to get better measurements if you need them.

Speaking of measurements, can you measure the length of the legs of your sliders? Going to be installing mine soon and want to make sure I cut the legs down the right length. I like the way yours sit.

I ended up selling the orange vistalite kit : ( , but still have my Bonham sized maple customs in a Vintage Black Oyster Pearl wrap. I sold the vistalites, and probably soon the VBOP kit due to sizing. I want to get back to a punchier 22" kick. I will probably end up with Ludwig again, just not settled on configuration yet. Till then, I have some vintage, (sounds funny to me) Tama Artstar Custom Maples, and Granstars to keep me busy.

As far as the tread goes, thanks. My pictures really bug me. They are all crap resolution. I am sure I'm doing something wrong when I reduce the image size to 800 pixels by whatever it is in order satisfy the file size requirements. Other peoples pictures seem crisp and clear...

Sad day yesterday.

I hit some ice coming back down FSR #70.

We were retuning from a Christmas tree run. We were on our way out with me at the end. I was heading downhill when the rear broke traction, and tried to trade places with the front. I wasn't going fast. The runner was turning towards the mountain. Before that could happen, the front wheels slid into the ditch and i rolled onto the driver's side.

Radio, phone backpack, CDs, and shoes fell on top of me. I quickly processed what had happened. I turned the engine off and began to look for the handheld radio. I found it and let everyone know that I rolled over.

They got to me quickly and open up the passenger side door for me to climb out of after I unbuckled myself. No broken bones. Some cuts from windshield glass that had fallen into the cabin.

We were running with some people who do rally car recovery sweeps. They went about 70 feet or so downhill to climb 20 or so feet up a tree to run the snatch block and get the runner rubber side down.

The body is totalled. Roof bent, dash buckled about 6" narrower than usual, and windshield were broken, but stayed put. The driver's side cargo had shattered Hood out of wack, rear hatch wont open. I didn't try to open the driver's door because I'd probably not be able to get it closed. Every time I had to re-enter the vehicle or exit the vehicle I had to do so by crawling in and out of the passenger side.

As crushed as I am about losing the 4Runner, I understand it could be a lot worse.

I was able to drive it the rest of the way down the mountain, about 10 miles. I called AAA And flatbedded it home.

All the armor seems good. It seems like the body took most of the impact.

I will most likely try to find a replacement 3rd gen after I settle up with insurance. I'm thinking I'll buy back the 4runner and swap out what I can. That's the plan anyway.

Thanks Tony. I was in 4WD HI, low gear. It's a bummer for sure. I wasn't even thinking about my own safety when the rear broke free. Going over didn't seem like it would happen. I was bracing for the end of the 4Runner.

Damn man, sorry to hear about the rollover. You walked away from it and toys can be replaced. Even toys that have that much blood sweat and beers invested in them. Play hardball with your insurance. Take the time to find the replacement rig and start swapping parts.

Props to the guys you where with for the recovery. Did it fire right up once back on all fours?

It fired right up the first try. It blew a little smoke for a minute, then ran just fine. Got to love these Toyotas!

Yeah... Be careful out there. 70 is very sketchy getting there. If you are going out alone, tell someone where you are and when you will be back or check in. As soon as it started to turn mountainside, I knew it probably wasn't going to end well. The other side is flat-board med evac or don't bother land.

I kept thinking of [MENTION=67615]Dirtco[/MENTION] as I was looking around for my radio. His was an altogether different situation in terms of severity. I can't imagine how scary that must have been knowing what just getting slammed on your side feels like.

that sucks. I enjoyed your adventures in this rig and reading about the ups and downs. glad you were not injured. I know these rigs are just things but you can't help not get connected to them and all the good times and people you meet while out wheeling. sad day.

Damn man! Sorry to hear that but glad you're ok.

I know this isn't popular but if you're going to start over with $$$ I'd strongly consider buying a brand new Taco 4x4, all bells and whistles for $34-$35k. They are pretty capable and easily lifted. Not the same rig I know but 3rd gens are rare and it is crazy amount work to rebuild from scratch all over again into a new-to-you but very used 150k mile truck.

Wow, that sucks! Sorry to hear about the accident, but at least you weren't hurt and from the looks of it if you went off the other side of the road it would have been much worse. Good luck dealing with the insurance, let me know if you have questions regarding the process.
