Road crown pull

I have a 2016 TE with 6112's set at the second groove. My concern is that it has really bad pull from the road crown. The worse the crown the worse the pull. I've had it long enough now to confirm it's the crown and none of the other possible culprits. After I installed the front coil overs my post alignment caster was 2.6 on the right and 2.3 on the left. Before I go back to the dealer that did the alignment I'd like to arm myself with some info.

What do others say on this and should I just get Camburg UCA's as the first step.

Thanks.

You may not do much better with Camburg UCA'S. I installed them on my 2016 along with a 3" lift and was only able to achieve 2.9 degrees of caster. In my opinion they suck. My basis for selection was they offer a Moog sealed ball joint vs an open type.

A slight difference in caster and camber is used to compensate for crown. On the passenger side more caster and less camber (more positive caster more negative camber relative to the driver's side).

ive heard multiple times the camburg ucas dont have enough caster built in. id look at the allpros, TC, icon, or the new rockmen UCAs. but dont let the dealer or anyother shop just halfass it. make them do it again and again till youre happy with it. If that means making them do it multiple times in a day do it. 2.x degrees is too little try to get to 3.5+ degrees of caster out of it, should really help with the crown following

I had a similar question regarding caster built in to the Camburg arms not too long ago, and after doing some research, it seems that there is not much added caster built in to the arms over OEM UCAs. There have been a number of reports here and on the TW forums about the lack of added caster.

If you want better caster, don't lift past 2.5" in the front (Camburg has stated that the arms are designed for 2.5" lift or smaller), or switch to different arms. Unfortunately if you want to stick with ball joints for less maintenance, you are very limited in selection between Camburgs, Light Racing/SPC, and the new JBA Off-Road Arms which have great reviews so far. The JBA Arms are stated to have as much articulation in the ball joint as a uniball.

Otherwise, you should stick with a different uniball UCA (Total Chaos, Light Racing, etc.).

Here's a great visual reference on why the Camburgs give less caster than the TC arms. This was measured with different FJC UCAs (which share the same UCAs as the 5th gen).

Now I'm a little afraid to fork out the cash for those Canburgs so I think the first thing I'll do is take it back and see if they can fix it with the stock UCA's. I really don't have much lift with the 6112's at the second groove because I have the added weight of a hidden winch. I made a point to spend some time in the left lane today and it even pulls there.

Thanks for the help and the illustration.

To be honest if you're running a less than 2.5" lift you'll be perfectly fine with Camburgs. I have a 2.5" lift and I have access to an alignment rack. Playing around to get proper alignment with my stock UCAs wasn't really worth the hassle for me.

My road crown pull is bad enough stock, making it worse is one of the reasons i haven't changed anything yet

Long story sort they had the alignment wrong. The manager actually showed me the printout from the first alignment where they had more castor on the left than right. Now the right has more caster and all seems well. The printout they gave me from the first appointment was before specs.

Good to know, thanks for reporting back!
