Rock Sliders Question

Hey Guys ....

I am in the market for rock sliders but trying not to shell out too much $$$ as it is not a necessity at the moment.

I have found a couple of DIY welding kits but not sure about the length.

Can someone help me out and let me know what is the ideal length for rock sliders on the 5th gens? :clap2:

Are you looking at the trail gear sliders? I was going to do that but got a killer deal on some APEX sliders instead. Built by the same company.

The one's you want are the 67 inch one's.

Yup. I actually gave the dude a call and asked for the length for the 5th gen. He said they make the APEX one's. They're built great, super clean welds and seem stout. I actually haven't hit anything on it yet but i'm sure they'll hold up.
 
Yeah $499 shipped is a deal. Everything I find is $600 plus shipping. I found this lical company making DOM sliders but its 69”.

Would that be a problem?

Nice. I had Apex sliders on my Tacoma and thought the build quality and design was great.
 
Would really like to save on sliders for other mods so A weld kit with a kickout would be ideal.

Anyone know of a weld it yourself kit of sliders with kickout?
 
DIY rock sliders

If you're going to weld them together you don't need a kit. Just buy the raw materials and make all the pieces. You'll need a tube bender and the welder. Measure 3 times. Cut once.
I bought my sliders from Domello Off Road. They're local to me so I was able to pick them up. I bought them bare steel and painted them in 4 coats of Rustoleum primer and then enamel paint.
I would have spent days trying to make weld plate bases that fit the KDSS.
Consider hiring a weld shop that does fabrication. But for a shop to create one pair of sliders it will probably cost more for the learning curve involved. Just like it will cost you more in time and materials than buying a pair from a company that has built a hundred or more of them already.
A friend of mine made a set for his Lexus GX470 after he scraped the running boards off on some rocks. They look fine and he integrated them with the OEM running board lights.
 
allpro lists their basic sliders for $494 right now on sale, but the shipping is $100+

I just google them and they're actually close to me...so I can actually pick them up and save on shipping
 
Just picked up a weld it yourself kit from XO-Fab. They dont have a 67” but I spoke to the owner Anthony and he agreed to make it custom to 67” for me.

All in all with shipping and all the necessary material to weld to the car came out to $300 so I am very pleased. :yo:
