Rock sliders ?

Do rock sliders/lower body protection just bolt on ?

If so where ? Do the bolt to the body where my tube steps came off ? or do the bolt to the frame rails ? If they bolt to the frame rails ( which IMO offer the best / strongest protection ) is there drilling involved or are they bolt up.

I've heard of Hanna's for our trucks , any others to look at ?

Some bolt on, some are weld-on
if you are a good welder, you can save money buy going the weld-on route. Also, consider if you will ever need/ want to remove them. There is no drilling necessary for bolt on, and they attach to the frame rail.

-Stubbs are nice, but must be welded
-Hanna Quality are nice, but if I have read a lot of bad experiences people have had with him (one man operation), do a search for Hanna and read for yourself.
-Shrockworks ...they are bolt on and very nice
-demello: weld on, I don't know much about them.

Most bolt-on sliders bolt to three spots on the frame. Another company that makes sliders is ARB: http://arbusa.com/side_steps_rock_sliders.php

The ARB slider/side rail is cool because it looks great and provides a good step. It attaches to the frame at two spots (?easier to install and take off):

Unlike the other sliders, ARB's does not have a space between the slider and the nerf tube...ARB covered up the space with a tread plate.

I forgot whether you're married or not, but the space between the slider itself and the nerf tube (used as a step) can catch woman's high heels. I had to modify my sliders because of this (see pics). You can do my modification on any other sliders, but ARB has it already.

I would recommend ARB, Shrockwork, or Hanna.

My favorites are the 4Crawler sliders made by Roger Brown. He can make them bolt on or weld on ... I chose weld on simply for strength and not wanting to deal with drilling.

I have pictures but not uploaded.

If you do a search, you'll find a lot of pictures from other guys with sliders on 4th gens.

I'd say go with 4Crawler or Shrockworks.

Well when you wheel in the rocks you gotta be ready for breakage. I also carry a complete set of axle shafts for the front axle, as well as tools and other stuff.

I run Hanna Quality sliders and the build quality is exceptional. :bigok: They're spendy but you get what you pay for IMHO. Shrockworks also makes a nice bolt-on. Anyway you go I highly recommend this mod prior to venturing off-road.
