Rockauto AISIN WPT802 question

Just received the AISIN WPT802 water pump from RockAuto. There are the pump, gasket and two o-rings in the box. For those of you bought the pump from RockAuto before, a few questions:

1. There is a obvious etch/cut on the part, seems to remove some serial no. Is this normal?

2. Looking at the underside of the pump, numerous of machining marks on the mating surface, some deeper marks around bolt holes can be felt by touching, looks like it was tossed around after milling... I know there will be a gasket between the block and the pump, but would these marks affect sealing capability?

3. Lastly packaging, there is absolutely nothing warp the pump inside the AISIN box, not even a plastic bag. As you can see from the picture, those bolts not only made a big hole in the box during shipping, they also punched through the shipping box.
Is this typical AISIN packaging? Does this look like a new part to you or I got someone's return part?

Would you still use it in your truck?

Is this a reman or new? I would say fairly typical for reman. I would use a thin coating of rtv on the gasket and you will be fine. Thin is the key word. Too much will end up in radiator core. I use a thin coat on the block and then on the pump. Put gasket on the block and bolt up the pump. I have not done my Toyota yet, but this way works well on GM products.

Everyone has their own way. I am sure someone else will say it is not ok, so do what you are comfortable with. I would not be concerned.

I ordered it new from RockAuto. That's why I am surprised by the machining marks.

To me. That b stamp looks like b-stock, also it might be used return by that finish.

oh no...Initially I thought just lousy packaging. :boom:
RockAuto double boxed it, but all the packing material were on top of the AISIN box.

Yep, I would ask for an exchange. No new part comes with zero packageing.
