rocker panels ?

Can anyone tell me what these are called exactly looking at a diagram there are three different "panels" and I am not sure which one to buy ?

Rocker panels ?

Sorry it is just below the door and just above the running board in the corner I found out today that it is a rocker panel "cover" and it is going to cost 3k to fix both sides are rusted.....yay !!

For $3k I'd just buy another 3rd gen and transfer over my mods then part the old one out or sell it.

body fill is $2950 cheaper and fairly easy to work with!

This. I've repaired them in the past. If you really want to get down, cut out a section, weld in a patch. Sand, spray the whole panel with bedliner and then get color matched spray paint.

If you don't want to go that far, sand down the rust, stuff them with some sort of material (filler) then body filler. Sand, smooth and paint.

$3K is crazy.

Well the parts alone are crazy expensive and the guy at the shop didn't sound like he wanted to cut anything out but replace all the pillars and rockers which is easy for him but crazy expensive for me the truck is in perfect shape no dents or scratches besides the rusty rear bumper which I do have a new one also have a bunch of parts that have not been put on yet projector headlights fender mirror hood with the scoop jaos spoiler and so on so maybe a good idea is to buy another but I LOVE this truck !!

Bob, I have a super hot wife who is trying to break the bank with vaneers. (sp?). There's no need for her to have them.

I'll fix your rocker panels if you are willing to take care of the teeth she doesn't need.

I had rust on the rocker panels just behind the front tires on my last 3rd gen 4runner and I bought Tacoma rockers and had a local body shop do the work. Paint and everything $800 or so. He cut out the bad and trimmed up the new panel and welded it in.

I am going to borrow the money from my 401K and just have it done, this truck has been SO good to me I cannot give up on her like that !

There are just too many different options to explore before dropping 3k on some new rockers. And dipping into your 401k?? I wouldn't do it.

Get more opinions from different shops.

You might be able to convince me to cut the rockers off my part out truck. You would have to get someone to weld them in place of course.

agreed!! I would get a few more quotes on that one, those are barely seen, fix it yourself then get some limited trim pieces that will cover up the shoddy work,

Well I will see about getting some other quotes I am not one to cut up the rockers to try and fix them I have seen some that were "fixed" and they looked like total crap the money from the 401K is a loan and I pay it back in two years which I thought was a better option than a "conventional" loan were I have to pay interest also if I try to fix my truck I will need a new one when I am "finished" :doh:
