Job well done! This is why I bought my 4Runner: I can rack up miles and it will still stay true to form. [MENTION=255709]Rapid_Amble[/MENTION] beat me to it though: would like to know the (non-routine) maintenance done on your Runner. I'm not on the same pace as you [MENTION=177976]CutthroatSlam[/MENTION] but I'm averaging about 36K/year and will probably hit the 100K-mile threshold in Spring 2020. Keep it going!

Just routine maintenance: Fluids, brakes, rotors, shocks, tires, spark plugs. I do all the service myself and I'm controversial in that I use Mobil Delvac 75w90 Syntthetic in the differentials and transfer case, and Valvoline Synthetic ATF in the trans. Oil changes every 10K. Differentials and transfer case 75K. First ATF flush at 150K, but I'll do at 75K from hereon.
You asked for Montana pics. Don't hate, life's been good to me. Wife is retired and I have 6.5 more years to get lifetime medical (I work at the SF Federal Reserve, but in LA Branch). Running joke is my wife comes home to get her oil changed and her spindle shafts lubed.:bravo:

Awesome pics! Ive had great experiences with valvoline ATF in the past. It’s good to know about the transfer case too. I’m at about 10% of that mileage so haven’t done t-case or transmission fluid changes yet but have been researching what to put in there if not OEM. Thank you.
-changed my ATF at 75K and wished i would have done it sooner
-just drained rear differential at 75k w/ redline 75w85
Redline just approved their REDLINE MT-LV for transfer case compatibility.

It's been a couple seasons, but I have an exchange program with some friends in Montana. I go there and fish for steelhead, they visit me and fish for atlantic salmon. It was enough of a tradition for me to leave a full set of gear out there. Absolutely gorgeous country. Congrats on a beautiful slice of heaven!
200k is a great milestone. my research for "reliable 4x4" brought me to the 4runner community. And I'm loving the reliability of my 4r.

OK Atlantic Salmon is on my bucket list. Let's make a deal! You can trade books in my wife's library after fishing all day. She has been slowly moving my tools from her library out into the garage as I've worked on storage there.
We had been looking up there for 9 years to find the right place. When we looked at this one, it was pretty close. Custom home,a bit dated, but low use. I factored all that in to our offer. Home had been on the market 2 years, so he rode it down and my offer price was less than half his original asking price. But cash is king.
Have you done Bull Trout in BC?
I want to fish Iceland for the giant brown trout in Lake Thingvallavatn. They also have Atlantic Salmon, but different season from the Browns.

It's not my day job, but I have a guide's license for atlantic salmon here on the Miramichi river. Non-residents require a guide, so I keep it around to help friends check that box on their bucket list
My favorite fishing is september, but there's more fish in the system in July.
If you get the itch, shoot me a message. I do Gaspe and Restigouche fishing in Quebec too. The resti fish will scare the hell out of you!
I have a friend in Trail BC that talks up the bull fishing. He's got an FJ, so obviously he's reliable right?
If you can take the trip to Iceland, I highly recommend it. I fished West Rangá years ago. Strange enough, the hotdogs there are outstanding.
That sure is a sweet home. Your patience paid off with dividends.

We fished bull tout on the Wigwam River out of Fernie BC. It was spectacular. Our guide wants us back during October to fish the upper Kootenay above Crankbrook. That's when the big bull trout are feasting on the spawning kokanee. They regularly get fish to over 20 lbs, his biggest went 36 lbs and he's lost one that he's certain was over 40 lbs. Fly gear, big streamers.
Definitely planning on Iceland. Need to get some clean up surgery done on my foot so it's ready for such a trip. In the meantime I'm banging on fish around the Missoula area.

Incredible home pal. We live in Redlands, so we are close when you are in So Cal. Great to see the high mileage.
I gotta say you have as good taste in houses as you do in SUVs. Some of the houses I see in that range look like they were built by Olive Garden. I spent my first 23 years in rural Scotland and your house would fit in perfectly there, right down to the furniture. Plain white walls, great fireplace, lots of exposed structural wood, slightly austere but cosy.

Thanks for sharing the pics of Big Sky country - some of the most beautiful land in our great nation. The only thing that's better is to have a stellar home to enjoy those beautiful views and the rugged landscape. Kudos on the home and congrats on the 200k mark ... here's to 200k more! :bluejump:

interestingly, we looked at a home right on the river (Bitterroot River) just below and maybe a 5 minute walk from the one we bought. It needed a lot of attention and the zoning is very mixed in the area. Sharing the drive was a house with a big industrial building and a bunch of old rotting cars laying around. On the other side of the lot was a new subdivision of cookie cutter homes on acre lots going in. Add in the float traffic on the river during the summer and you lost privacy. Then there were the bugs, as well as flood risk. We passed. Not only passed, we hated the area and stopped looking in the Bitterroot Valley.
Then this home showed up on my FB feed of our broker. I had my wife drive up and look at it. She called and said "you should come up and look at this. There's potential, but not sure (she was concerned about some of the dated features)." So I flew up to Spokane where my wife picked me up and drove me the 3.5 hours back to the Missoula area to view the house.
We like a sprawling single story home, not two story. That was this home. We also like cozy ranch, not friggin mansion formal. It was a custom design and build and after doing some work on it, it is well built. Exterior walls used 2x8 studs and were shot full of fiberglass insulation. In the dead of winter during an arctic blast, the furnaces will cycle on about every 3 hours. The home was designed to maximize views and it has them in spades from virtually every room. It was built in 1989, but saw low usage. Still things break as a function of age as well as use, But I am handy and have been going through the home inspection report and crossing things off. I'm just used to doing that stuff.
One negative is that the garage is just two single bays, but we have the room (24 acres) to build another right next to it. It would be nice to leave some cars up there and just fly up, though my wife prefers to drive with the dogs.
Oh and the fly fishing all along the Bitterroot is awesome and we also have the Clark Fork, Blackfoot, Rock Creek, East and West Forks of the Bitterroot to choose from.
