Roof rack end bracket material?

Waiting patiently to pick up my 4R until after this shutdown is over, but planning some mods until then. Are the end brackets under the plastic covers that hold the roof rails plastic, cast metal or something else entirely? I am working on making an extension for the rack, so it would be helpful to know in advance.

It's cast Aluminum. I had a roof top tent on the factory rails for years, no issues whatsoever. Glad I didn't waste money putting an aftermarket rack on just to cover it with a tent!
