Roof Rack help! Prinsu Design...

Im looking to get a roof rack and Im almost set on getting one from Prinsu Design. I really like how low profile they are. I just wanna see more pictures on it. And also, would there be any problem mounting a RTT on it? Im either going to purchase a Maggiolina Airland or a FSR Adventure Series. Any input and/or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some pics. Best to check with Prinsu for the load capacity of the cross members. Then check the weight of the tent. Devise a mounting strategy to distribute the weight correctly. Camp at will.

Thanks for the pictures. The rack looks great! I also like how theres an option for the light bar cutout on the wind deflector. Ill definitely get the weights for the 2 RTT I'm debating on getting and check with Prinsu about load capacity.

The hardshell or standard RTT will work. I have a similar style wedge hardshell going on my prinsu full rac.

There are ways around this.

For a standard fold out soft shell tent, you mount the bars to the tent, measure the distance between mounting points on the rack, might take a couple tries and an extra set of hands, but that works.

Same concept for the hardshell tent. But with those who have a sunroof, use mounting points closest to the sunroof for the fronts, the rear, take off the 1x1 bar and you'll have enough room to stick your hands from the back while using a self ratcheting wrench.

I'm really interested to know from current owners if you walk on this rack or is that expecting too much from the cross bars? I guess it also depends on how much a person weighs, I'm over 200

i weight 205.6 exactly and i've walked across the bars. I have also stood on my load panel (though i don't really recommend to do that often). I've also sat on my tent while my tent was mounted. Its pretty strong quality

This is the tough stuff elite 5 person tent, I have used this with no problems with my wife and 2 kids sleeping in it.

It is a pain to try and fit your arms in to tighten the attachment bolts so I taped a wrench to a paint stick. when I took it off for the winter I just unbolted the cross members that it is attached to and removed the tent with them attached. There are plenty of cross bars so they were not really missed.

Individually they are awesome. Together they're a pain in my a$$.

I have to remove my tent every time I get home because I don't fit in the garage. I'm looking at other options to raise the tent in order to get my hands/arms in positive to reach the screws every time. I can get my hands in through the back just barely with a ratcheting wrench. The front I have to remove the windscreen from the rack.

I saw someone on instagram who bought and used the extra mounting foot for topracs:

They have model that could raise the tent up 1.5". That and the approx. 1" channel from the tent may be enough for me to reach the nuts. At $120 a pop though, I almost feel like I should just cough up another 180$ and get the frontrunner quick connects:

I also removed my awning b/c I thought it would be great to just remove the cross bars with the tent, but that was a mistake. Don't do that.

Great information...and pictures. Almost lost my train of thought looking at your front bumper lol. Ill save that for another time. But yes, if you do anything to make things easier for you, please let me know. The mounting foots for topracs look good but if the quick release from Frontrunner is a better option, id like to know. Im not planning on keeping the RTT on top of the truck all the time so an easy way to get in on/off would be ideal.

Sunroof?

Heres a question relating to the Prinsu full length roof rack...

Would it interfere with me being able to open/close/slide my sunroof?

That would be a BIG negative.

I saw that there was a quick fix for the 3/4 length one but didn't mention anything about the full length one.

Depends. I think it's the 3rd cross bar, if you remove that, you can still tilt your glass up, but if not it will def hit it and most likely break. I have the 2nd cross bar removed right now so I can used my sun roof. Technically you could still use your sun roof with no bars removed, just have to remember not to tilt it up.

I have a Prinsu full rack. Have had it for a over a year. Love it. I hear people love them even more now that CBI bought out Zach and lead time is more consistent.

I have walked on mine. I weigh 185lbs.

I don't have small hands. I did mount an Alu-Cab RTT on the rack, pretty much entirely on my own. I've adjusted it entirely on my own. And although it was a bit of a hassle, it was not the end of the world, nor even cause for much concern. In fact, I wouldn't have even thought about it others hadn't mentioned it here.

I've also walked on my RTT on top of the roof rack and everything has been great.

And I don't know what issues others have had with their moonroof, but mine is just fine. Although I don't need it much now that the RTT is up there. Still I open it up for air circulation when we're long hauling and there's never been any issues.

The thing that you can do with the Prinsu that you can't do remotely as easily with other racks is order extra crossbars that you permanently fix to your RTT. Then you can build some sort of hoist system with a gantry crane or something, to unbolt the crossbars from the rack and theoretically remove the RTT. I should let you know though that I intended to do this, but frankly it's just too much of a pain lining up the bolts and finding center of gravity to do this as efficiently as I hoped. So I just keep the RTT up there all the time.

It's a good rack.
