Roof rack locks worthwhile?

I'm getting a Yakima rack for my 4R. Someone is giving me part of it off of her camper, and I have ordered the other stuff I need to mount it on my LE rails. I see that lock cores are available for $45/4 from Amazon. Are the locks worthwhile?

I'll be hauling a canoe or bikes (not at the same time) and I won't be leaving either on the rack unattended, but I may leave the rack on when not in use.

I have locks on my Hi-Lift, Crovel and fuel and water Rotopax. It doesn't take long for anyone to walk off with your stuff. this just makes it harder. You may not leave your things purposely unattended, but you could simply be taking a leak at a gas station en-route.

I run pretty much all Yakima on the roof and have a Thule hitch mounted rack. The cross bars are locked to the roof rails and the basket, 2 roof bike racks and even the tie down straps have locks to the cross bars (the straps came that way). Anyway you can see the point. All that stuff costs about $1,100 retail. So to me $45 for 4 lock cores is well worth the deterrent insurance.

And while you may garage it at home and not have to worry about it but when you hit the road that may not be the case and that's when you may have the nicer stuff up there people will want and if the rack is easy to get off. That's an added bonus

Try eBay buy it now as well. I remember it being fairly cheap
