Roof Rack Parts

I would like to add a used OE roof rack to my '00 4Runner. It now has only the flat roof strips. Do I need anything other than the towers and crossbars?
How are the towers attached?

I'm about to remove my 2 large crossbars to lower my Rola roofrack but you will need the track, end pieces, and the 3 small crossbars to have a complete OE rack.

You will need the rails that replace the flat strips you have. The towers and cross bars screw into the rails.
