Roof Rack / Rails : What's Missing? : HELP

My son asked me last night about getting a roof rack? I asked him if he meant a basket and he said no, just the roof rack with cross bars. I have posted a picture of the roof. Please let me know what is missing / needed to make this happen?

Umm...The factory roof rack?! Try searching local wreckers for the whole assembly. Rails, crossbars, end caps, T-nuts, tie down screws, rub strips.... I couldn't find one locally and wound up getting mine from fleabay.

I've never seen those before I assume that's what was put on it you didn't order a 4runner with the roof rack?

Anyway, your best bet is to buy the whole rack off a wrecked truck.

I've got some decent condition cross ribs and bars if you can find the tracks. Took them off mine to put an aftermarket full rack on. Would give free if you pay for simply what ever shipping costs are. I think I even have the knobs to tighten them in place too so everything but the side tracks. Regards.

Truck looks great and clean. Don't mess it up with a rack if it's not going to be used.

I know how I was when I was 16... well, still am. Most of my best decisions were made after I thought about it for a few weeks. Keep it clean!

My 2000 4Runner is a "slick top" too. I'm convinced it has an effect on gas mileage. I get 22-24 mpg on the highway where most on here get 17-19. I have the factory sized Michelin tires (boring) and no running boards. Years ago I put a touron bag on top of the minivan for vacation items and the mileage decrease was 4 mpg on that trip.
