Rotor Dust Shield Replacement

My rotor dust shield has rusted off of it's bolts, so today I took the caliper and rotor off to look at it, and it seems to me that you would have to partly disassemble the hub to put a new one on.

Here's a diagram for reference:

If so, how much needs to be disassembled in order to remove the first part of the hub (no. 5)? Can you just remove the axle nut and pull it out or is it more involved? Seems like a lot of trouble just for a dust shield hahaha.

Yep you have to press out the hub to remove the brake shield. Doing so will require a new hub bearing because pressing out the hub almost always messes up the bearing. Thats doing it right or you can cut the shield so it will slide off and on, not right.

I may end up cutting it. A cut shield is better than none at all, especially considering the old one practically fell off.

I've seen some people cut the shield in half then bolt it on and then spot weld it together. Just an option.
