Since you will be doing the rotors and pads, you might as well upgrade to the tundra calipers.
For $300 complete at rockauto.com, you can get the calipers, pads and rotors and say good bye to the pulsing brake pedal. I went with the smaller 199mm calipers so the wheels would fit better and less fitting.
There is nothing special about it being a 4x4 but if you never did a brake job before you should have help.
Personally I like the wagner quiet stop ceramic pads.

They are quite easy as far as brakes go. Rotors just slide off and on once you have unbolted the caliper from the mount. They are not attached to the hub or anything else. The pads come out once you remove the two guide pins that they slide on. Nothing special required. There are probably a few write-ups on here somewhere. Just don't shear a mounting bolt off like it did!

I just ordered rotors (brembo) and pads (benxix ceramic) from ebay.
I do need calipers 13wl. How does the core charge work at rock auto?

I wouldn't imagine very well. Most local autoparts stores wont know what you are bringing back, but I would think RA might and not give you your money back... just speculation on my part, though.

Not so. I shipped mine back to RA for the core and it was accepted. They just want similar items returned. Search the net for the RA discount code to save 5% off the order.

I its almost double the price at local auto parts store..
Id be ok if its 10% more locally which I would support. But 45% more and added 9% tax is not very competitive at all.
Plus Im sure the major franchise for local autoparts stores get a larger discount from the suppliers.
Sucks but in this ecomomy I have to look out for my personal wallet.

To answer your question. Yes the 4x4 4runners have floating rotors so there is no hub to remove.. So its a basic brake job. If you can take out a tire you can take out calipers and rotors to switch out.

I have looked all over the internet and can only find 318mm brake rotors for the 2000/2001 Tundra.
Also is this only for the front, or the rear as well?
And last part, are there different calipers, or just different rotors?
Anyone have the actual part numbers from RockAuto, AutoZone, or NAPA?
