Rough Country Nitro 9000 Rear Shocks + 7 Wrap LC Coils?

I just ordered a pair of 7.5 wrap LC front coils to lift the rear of my runner. Now I gotta choose a pair of shocks to compliment the longer travel, and my current ones are leaking apparently.

Has anyone run the Rough Country Nitro 9000 Rear Shocks with 7 wraps and know how they preform? I don't know anyone that has a set off the top of my head. The shocks are supposed to be long enough to accommodate up to a 3.5 inch lift on a 4runner and I know that 7 wraps are supposed to give somewhere around 3-3.5 inches of lift in the rear.

I just ordered a set of 9000's (shocks and struts for a 99' coil swap i'm doing) from Lift kits, Leveling Kits, Body Lift kits for trucks, Jeep & SUV's, in fact they'll be here today.

Just tell him you're from T4R and that Brian sent you his way. Cool guy, in fact I just talked to him yesterday. I think he was running a set up almost identical to what you're looking to do, and he'll be able to give you all sorts of feedback on what might be the best thing for you to go with.

not to steal this thread but I have LC coils coming too but am pairing them up with OME comfort shocks. are they long enough?

I can vouch for the Rough Country shocks. Running them with my 881s/891s and love them. I can also vouch for Rocky Mtn. Susp. They're awesome.

Wheelersoffroad also sells Tokico Trekmasters I believe. I'm running them and I am very happy. I got rear shocks for a 90's FJZ80 Landcruiser and they are definitely long enough. The part # is GE4095 and you can also get them from discountautoshocks.com (I paid $80 shipped for the pair).

No, I over-extended mine and bent the studs on top. That's the reason why I went to the LC shocks actually. You might be ok with OME shocks if you still run your rear sway bar, but it'll be pushing it.

NOTE: The extended travel with LC shocks will cause your driveshaft to hit the gas tank skid (especially if you remove the rear sway bar). You'll have to get under there and clearance it with a hammer. You should also remove the zerk that sticks out on the driveshaft and replace it with a short M6 bolt or it'll get torn off.

Whatever I end up getting is going to be better than what I got now. I feel like my suspension in the back doesn't allow travel upward enough when even going over speed-bumps.:lmao:

Yes, if the rear sway bar is removed (which I highly recommend for much added flex), the shocks are the only thing holding the coils in. My old 891s would fall out with the LC shocks so I put 2 10mm trim packers on top of each coil and then they stayed in. But now I have 861s which are about as tall as 9 wraps and they won't fall out. In fact, I needed spring compressors to get them in/out. I think 7 wraps might be long enough to stay in, but I can't say for sure. Driffter33 has LC Trekmasters and 8.?? wraps and his stay in as well.

RC 9000's rear shocks

They should definitely be long enough to accommodate the 7wrap LC coils. My buddy is running a similar set-up and he is happy with the performance. He's had em' on for at least a year now and wheels often. The 9000's are holding up nicely. In fact im running them with the ToyTec Superflex rear coils and I've taken em on plenty of rough trips. The 9000's are built for extended travel. Flexes nicely too. Im curious to see how much more flex I could gain if I removed my rear sway bar. It's pretty obvious that Im happy w/the 9000's great product for the $$$ ...however if $$$ wasn't an issue I would go with the Bilsteins.:fencing:
