Ok, so maybe I'm just a pampered princess who got used to driving a Lexus (at least that's what my wife told me), but I just bought my first 4runner (99 limited 2wd), and noticed it has a very stiff ride. I can feel every bump in the road. Is this normal, it being a truck? Or do I need new struts? 150k, and the struts look to be the original.
Rough ride?

Yes.
It's not a Lexus and it's likely the shocks/struts are kaput - does it wonder, hop, or bounce on the road?

If they're original - replace them. You'll notice the difference. I changed mine on 100K.

I was just going to say your wife's probably right. But I can be a Jack*ss.
If you do a wheel lock u-turn your truck will lope over if the strut is shot. I lost the passenger side of my Audi and could feel it. I really feel the "Truckness" in comparison. Hope its nothing too pricy.:thumb3:

Mine have seen 200k miles... it isn't going to get any better. IMO they are a 90k maintenance item.
