Rough sounding idle?

Hey guys my 15 TEP seems to have a bit of a rough idle (with less than 2k miles on it)... not sure if this is normal? there are no check engine lights or anything... it seems to be worse when its cold. gas mileage has suffered quite a bit... 12-13 mpg with very conservative driving.... not sure whats up... i can post a video tomorrow to demonstrate the sound...:mmph:

Probably normal- not the quietest or smoothest engines .

Mine sounds like a diesel on cold mornings as well.

Post a video though if it'll make you feel better- can't hurt anything!

Same here. Normal. Think it's due to roller rockers.

The gas mileage doesn't sound normal to me. These aren't the most gas conscious trucks but 12-13 seems low.

Keep an eye out for oil use. Might not be too comforting but if it blows you will get a free engine!

Thanks guys for the comments! I used to have a lexus IS300 and it ran a lot smoother than this motor but it does sound the same on hard acceleration...

i bought this TEP with 50 miles on it and I'm hoping it wasn't abused too much by all the people test driving it....

i bought this TEP with 50 miles on it and I'm hoping it wasn't abused too much by all the people test driving it....

I have had three and they all sound the same. Coarse sound but smooths right out as the rpm's go up. Don't worry about abuse. Pretty sure this engine could go to redline right out of the box for a long time with no damage. I buy vehicles like this so I don't have to worry about stuff like that.

Sounds very similar to my 2010 with 43k miles on it. Rest easy.

Purrs like a kitten. I've never been a fan of the sound of any V6 that I can think of. Except maybe the old Buick V-6 turbo Indy car.

The engine has timing chains, VVTI and it is a truck.

My 2013 TE sounded rough when new. Now after 2 oil changes and 10,000 miles it's smooth as silk.
