1997 T4R Limited 4x4 Auto w/ Factory installed RS-3000 system. Truck is new to me and did not come with a remote. Bought a remote with matching FCC/ID. Have manual and have followed directions correctly. Problem is I never get the correct sequence of lights and or chirping. The only light I get when pushing the button on ECU is the following.
Push button on ECU, in 2 seconds security light comes on solid for 2 seconds, then flashes 8 times and goes off. That's it. If I try to "clear" all remotes to start over and push button again, I get the exact same sequence. Matter of fact that is the only lighting sequence I have ever gotten pushing the button on the computer brain. I was wondering if it could have been left in valet mode or disabled at some point? Any help is appreciated.
Note: I was able to program the auto lock/in-lock feature and got 3 chirps so it appears at least part of the system is working.
