RTH! Timing belt tensioner compressor

I have searched for the past hour and can not find the answer I need. Is there a way to compress the timing belt tensioner without the special tool? I need to get the truck up an running to get to work tomorrow. Great way to spend Easter.

I didn't have a bench vise handy so I compressed mine VERY slowly by putting it on top of a bottle jack and put it under my receiver hitch. Make sure you line the holes up before jacking. You can use any sort of pin/drill bit/cotter pin if it fits. You could use the factory jack too I guess. Good luck.

if you have a large enough c clamp, you can do it. I was able to do it. wasn't too bad. the key is compressing it slowly. I noticed the faster you compress it, the harder it is. so do it slow

A Valve spring compressor works good too! And you can do it while it's installed.
