Edit: I wanted to clarify. I would like to gather real world data on how a 275/70/17 fits on stock suspension across all 5th gen packages. I would like to know whether or not they rub or don't as various wheel manufacturers make the same sized tire slightly different as tread could be wider and or thicker in depth.

Hi all! I've been a forum reader for a few years but not one to post much. I've had a 1st and 2nd gen 4R and currently on my 3rd 4Runner, 2015 SR5 w/ 3rd row, all stock. I DO NOT want to abuse this ride as it is my first brand new vehicle, family hauler (3kids) /daily driver commuter. The most I want to do is go with bigger tires, yes, just for "the look!" Also, some cheap interior/exterior diy mods, but that's besides my point. I was reading the "5th gen tire fitment guide," and have come to the conclusion that I could go 275/70/17, with no rubbing, based on the chart. BUT UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, it looks like there are mixed reviews to the above depending on which 4Runner package and which tire make and model you go with. IE, KO2 275/70/17 will rub on a TRDP but not on a TE (just for example). I wanted to start a thread that lists which tire sizes will rub and won't rub, all in one. This list would be a thread based on real experience. It would be a list/thread that looks like this.
KEEP IN MIND, THIS WOULD BE FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO KEEP THEIR RIDES STOCK BUT WITH BIGGER TIRES. (Me included)
For example; this is all you would post,
Before tire upgrade
4Runner - year, base/SR5/TRDP/TE/LE
Tires - make/model
Rims - size/make/model
MPG
After tire upgrade
Tires - make/model/load/size
Rims - size/make/model
Performance
-sound/noise, acceleration, mpg
RUB? YES or NO
yes?
-mods to accommodate;
-leave? lift? liner? remove mud flaps? etc.
This would need the input from owners who have gone through this to provide the real world data. This should minimize the amount of posts regarding this topic as well.
Let me know what you guys think. I'm just trying to help others out and also myself without being roasted online.
Who wants to be first to to help?
