FWIW The TRD Tundra coils on the Bilstein Tundra shocks are not overly stiff. I honestly felt them to be almost identical to the OME 881 setup I ran previous. Although, now, after adding the front bumper and winch the TRD Tundra coils seem to have come alive. There was a huge increase in small bump absorption immediately with the extra weight up front. If you plan on getting a winch and a bumper in the future I'd say you can't go wrong with my setup. Like I said, even before my bumper and winch, I had no complaints about them being too stiff....
Thread Resurrection...
Front
Bilstein 5100 tundra with stock 99 coils on bottom perch is stock height...
Rear
Bilstein 5100 tundra with 906 coils is 1inch lift over 99 rear coils... replace bottom bushing on shock
to lessen the rake, I raise the front to the 2nd perch, should be about 3/4 inch rake...
will eventually have bumpers and weight...
this sound about right to everyone else?
Thanks
Get the 3rd Gen 4Runner specific Bilstein 5100's. 24-248730 (F) and 24-249966 (R).
Use the stock front coils and get 2.3" of front lift. No need to replace the bushing if you use the 24-248730, they were designed for the 3rd Gen 4Runner.
Rear use the 24-249966 and OME 906 and get 2" of lift with that setup. Again, no need to change bushings, bolt them right in.
I had that setup and it was great!
