Running a wire from 12vdc outlet up to dash?

I have a radar detector mounted on the dash, plugged into the 12vdc outlet under the stereo system. Right now the cable just dangles in front of the Entune screen, which is annoying and unsightly.

I'd like to run it between the center console and the glove compartment. But I need some way to hold it in place. Obviously I could just use tape, but that wouldn't look very nice, plus I don't think it would hold up very long in a hot car.

Can someone suggest a better method to secure the cable?

is it possible to mount the radar detector high like near the rear view? u can always take the a-pillars out and run the wire there to a fused switch source, and the run the wire above and behind the headliner and back of the rear view. this is how i always mount the bluetooth mics on aftermarket stereos.

Ok, here's what I finally came up with… It's easy and cheap…

I bought a short piece of clear, 1/4" diameter vinyl tubing. I cut off a few short segments, about a half-inch long, then slit them lengthwise:

The segments of tubing were glued in place using a product called "Shoe Goo". This stuff sticks to almost any kind of plastic. After letting it cure overnight, I inserted the power cord through the slits in each segment:

That's all there is to it!

My V1 in its suction cup mount rides just below the rear view mirror. It is powered by the larger wires (one +,one-) from the the overhead console. There are several wires up there. Use the larger of them. Then check the operation of the sun/moon roof. If it works ok, you got the correct wires. Turns on with the key like a proper detector should.

I've always had mine up by the mirror but since my scangauge is there and I may mount a ham radio face up there, I'm trying something different:

take the pillars out and hide the cord and hardwire. looks ok now, but some of us will hate that look in a few weeks.

I am smoking on putting my ham radio head in the sun glass holder on my SR5P. I sit kind of tall in the saddle though so by the time I lower the rear view mirror to be below the sun glass holder, my view forward to the right may be too obstructed for me.
I like the V1 where it currently lives below the mirror, compounding my choices.

Consider trying the dash. Put the soft side of a square of velcro on the dash, and the hook side on the radar detector. Mine is stable enough that it doesn't even wobble off roading. When you remove the radar detector it's just a black patch and looks fine
