Running Board Lights

OMG!!! i'm glad i'm not the only one that the LED fell into the housing!

was wondering how the FUDGE i was going to get that sucker out!

Sorry for resurrecting and old thread but I had to help out. My LED bulb fell in the running board light housing today and I was lost! I tried the gum method and my gun got stuck, go figure! So I just wanted to post how I got my bulb out.

I took this picture from underneath the car in front of the back left tire look up. Just unscrew the two screws I circled in red and the housing will slide right off.

THANK YOU! I googled "4th gen 4runner running board lights fell" like a dummy and ended up here.... looks like I wasn't the only one! Definitely one of the reasons a bought a 4Runner... so easy to find info on this forum

Bringing back an old post with a great solution!

I also had an led bulb fall in the light compartment area. Ended up taking a garden stake/staple and bending it to an L shape.
Took three small ceramic block magnets and taped them to the stake.
Lightly banged on the running board until the led light was near the compartment opening.
Used stake with magnet end and was easily able to get the led bulb out.
Would show you a picture, but my image is too large and won't upload.
Hope this helps anyone else the has a loose bulb in thst compartment.

I was considering swapping my running board lights to LEDs, but now I'm having second thoughts. Is there anyway to add a bit of hot glue to the bulb holder just to make it more secure?
