Running board mod

So im bored on this sunday and with all my monies tied up in saving for rims/tires its time to get creative. After going through the forum for hours now... i saw a 05 4runner with its step/running board removed and i really liked the look.

So now im considering removing the running board.
Along with that ive had these westin chrome step bars for about 5 years. They are made to fit a 1990-95 pathfinder that i own.. but i never bothered installing them. Ive been trying to find a buyer for these for a week now and havent had much luck.
Well i payed around 250 for them and i figured i should get some use out of them.

Now my idea is to remove the running board and hopefully then find some mounting points i can possibly modify to fit the stepbars to.

Well any thoughts/suggestion to make this easier would be appreciated. I'm going to remove my running board to see how it comes out and then go from there.

Congrats on your success. As you can see...not too many people have their old Pathfinder's running boards laying around.:D

Interesting mod nonetheless.

cool beans
pics dont do justice to how it turned out. garage lighting sucks.

ill put some decent ones up tomorrow

had to cut the corner for it to fit flat. other then that it just took finding the right mount points and going to buy new bolts/nuts/washers to get the height/depth right.

cant find the rubber strips that you step on.. ima have to dig up my basement.

Maybe get custom badges that say

Toyota 4Finder or PathRunner

:nerd:

yeah its more then strong enough. westin makes the same bars for the 05 runner they just are a bit different. the depth of the ends are longer i believe and also the rear mounting piece is actually attached to the 3rd support for the stepboard.

i emailed them a while ago about having this done and they told me there would be no way because of the depth issue. aswell as the mounting brackets that are different for each vehicle. well i just had to find new points to brace it on and it came out frickin sweet. i just cant find the thick rubber sticker that u step on. im tearing up my garage lookin for them.

well saved my self some money and even time.. from having to try to sell these and then re buy new ones. the fit isnt 100% but id say it was worth it.

yeah i noticed that as well. i lost a little bit of ground clearance. they dont dip lower then the mud flaps which is good. deff going to get the lift done. that will probably be my next move.

i went to go check if i was right and well they slightly come lower then the mud flap
