Hello all, I was thinking of how difficult it would be to adapt a set of running boards from a Tacoma double cab to a 4 runner. I have factory a set that came with the SR5 package on my new to me 4 runner. I know everyone says to take them off but I need something to access the roof rack and these hang very low. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ray.

Not sure I follow? You mention converting Tacoma running boards to a 4R then state that your new 4R has factory running boards???

Sorry, I should have explained better. The SR5 running boards are almost 6 inches tall were as the Tacoma running boards are 2.50 inches tall. Sliders are an option but the truck will see very little off road. I was trying to see if there was a cheaper option. the tacoma boards can be had for around $100 verses $400 for sliders. Basically i am trying to tuck them up closer to the rocker and have them still be functional . Thanks, Ray.

Ah, gotcha! I guess it would come down to the bolt pattern and spacing off the rocker panel whether that would work. You could takes some measurements if possible, otherwise hopefully someone on here has tried it. You could also check the Tacoma forum. The years of both vehicles would be helpful as well. That's what I do and I have running boards.
But sliders would sit higher than the Oem boards.
