running boards

I'm thinking of removing the running boards from my '01 SR5 and just wondering what to expect. method & I.E. will i need to get mud flaps?? anyone interested in buying them, after i take 'em off?

It's personal preference really. I think the mudflaps look good with the black SR5 flares, but it can be tricky as you need to get the flaps from a Tacoma if I remember right in order for them to line up right. With Limited or Sport flares there isn't really any mudflaps available that will look good there and it doesn't look empty without them either. I would just remove them and see what you think. Also, you will probably have a difficult time selling them on here, as most people remove them as you are looking to do, but mine went pretty good on eBay.

Unfortunatly the black flares didn't make it past '99 and are the only ones compatible with the OEM front flaps.

If you have the wide flares or the chrome strip over the wheel wells you should just check with the parts stores and find a pair that fit the truck and look good to you.

Think I got the chrome strips over the wheel well. I'll try and see if i can find a pic of my runner and post it.
