hey i have an 04 sr5 114,000 on it. whenever i start my truck it runs really rough at startup almost about to stall. i rev it no higher than 2 grand a couple times and it goes away. the plugs are pretty new and i just got an oil change. any ideas of what this could be and if i should start worrying if im gonna need a new engine i hope not. thanks guys any info would help

check your coolant and to see what it smells like, hopefully coolant and not hydrocarbons

see if you can get a scanner and find out what cylinder the misfire is on? and then swap those plugs with another cylinder to see if it follows the plug, ive had faulty brand new toyota plugs that made me worry that it was a misfire

then the last step, do a cylinder leak down test to see if any cylinder is losing pressure and if it is, where is that pressure going?

Got CEL? If so, then have the codes read.

I recently had a rough startup and it turned out to be a bad spark plug wire...simple and cheap fix.

thanks guys i hope its just a simple fix if its not is there anyway that toyota would be paying for this i know im pipe dreaming but just curious

Yeah pipe dream for sure!! Haha no way Toyota would cover it, dint fret yet til you know more info, it could be a number of things

Sadly today many engine running poorly problems are caused, by the poor quality gas we must buy. Any gas that contains any % of alcohol will surely not be good. I am lucky having a few stations still selling 100% real gas.

But before the other were made to post the alcohol content, their junk gas ruined my old 82 Bronco's Carb. and caused Carb. problems on my Honda lawn mowers and my Power Trim edger.

I still add some Texron enjector cleaned to my 98 Maxima and 08 4Runner like the TV Auto Insurance Commercial running now says "JUSTEN CASE"
