Running Speaker Wire in Front Doors?

Im in the process of installing new component spekaers in the front doors and gonna drive them with an amp. I have been searching and found nothjng on people running 12-14 gauge speaker wire to the doors of a 4th gen 4runner.

Anybody have any pics or experience doing this?

Yes. Very easy. Peel back the rubber boot between pillar and door. Then you can feed it thru the hole in the pillar to the kick pane area. Run thru door to speakers. It's actually easy as there are holes and not plugs on each side to run the wire.

Hit the speaker wire with some spray lube, too, to make pulling through the boot easier.

Use lube of your choice. Don't force it, take it slow and easy. I got multiple runs of 14 gauge speaker wire, 3 sets of 14 gauge 2 for the window motor and 1 for mid woofer. Also another 16 gauge for the tweeter. I think I have enough wire at the boot.

16 gauge wire is more than ample for anything but subs.
Absolutely no point running 12 gauge for doors.

I agree with WC11.I'm no expert but I have run aftermarket car stereos for over 30 years, installed by me. Unless you are running a ton of wattage (+1000w)16g is perfectly fine. I am running components in front off an alpine pdx-5. I ran 16 gauge and it was quite difficult to run through doors. its not the rubber booty that is difficult, rather the bracket in doorjam that the speaker wires need to squeeze through. and I do mean SQUEEZE, even with 16 gauge. I cant imagine trying to snake 12 gauge wire through that bracket. take a looksie and decide for yourself

you can unbolt the bracket, just another 10mm bolt, but 16 gauge is fine.

Yes, you loosen the bolts on the bracket but threading 12 or 14 g wire through the bracket would be a serious pain and unnecessary. Im sure it is doable but 16g is sooo much easier to work with and gets the job done nicely even with higher end gear imo. Whichever you choose just get it done and rock on
