Rust around the windshield- anyone ever repaired it?

You can do the same thing I did - buy a 1-foot wide strip of vinyl. Don't get the stuff with the tiny holes that help eliminate bubbling. Stick it across the top of the windshield overlapping the roof. It needs to be long enough to cover the a-pillars. Your windshield will no longer leak. Before I applied the vinyl, using compressed air, toothbrush, various improvised tools, I got all the debris out from the [incorrect] seal that was put on mine. Then I sprayed a liberal amount of some eastwood rust converter in there. Last summer, the sun finally cracked the original vinyl strip so, using leftovers from the roll I bought 4-5 years ago, I patched the cracked areas. Still no leaks.

I'm in no hurry to cut out the windshield and weld / grind / repair the rust and I'm definitely NOT paying someone else to do it.
