What can I do to help prevent "Rust" on my newly purchased 1999 SR5 4Runner?

If you have chrome bumpers, chances are you already have rust. Especially in the back.

I have not fixed my problem yet. I plan on taking the bumper off and sanding and painting the inside.

Not necessarily in the bumper but more so in the paint. I was washing it yesterday and noticed what looks to be fine particles of rust on the outside door surface. Could have been something else, but it was rust in color. Wiped off ok, but still small particles.

Sounds like you have some paint contamination and need to clay bar.
