Rustoleum Bed Liner

I'm trying to decide if I want to bed liner my bumpers, flares and cladding, but I'm not 100% sure I like the look. I'm hoping people can post pictures of their bed lined (preferably Rustoleum) 4runners. I'm hoping for some close ups of the texture as well.

Also how many of you are happy with the bed liner or wish you went a different route? Is it easy to take off if you want to repaint later on?

I sprayed my rear bumper with the rustoleum bed liner. I dont like the texture and how it sprayed on. It seems to spay very thin coats but On the plus side it has a very rough texture to it.
I used dupli color bed liner for the front bumper and love it. It goes on thick and has a smooth finsh. Never had to take the bed liner off. Just make sure you sand off the crome or you will get rock chips and flakes come off.

There is minor collision damage to the rear of my 4runner. It was like that when I bought it so I just removed the mangled bumper and sprayed a small section with (I believe it was rustoleum) bedliner for rust prevention. Then I rattle canned over it with some metallic grey to keep the bedliner from fading. It's held up fine since this past spring.

Its hard to tell in this pic but the metallic paint makes the bedliner look a lot better IMO. Nevermind the fact my truck needs a bath



Once bedliner goes on there is pretty much no going back without a lot of work. I used an angle grinder to try and remove it on my old bronco's bumper but it just got hot and smeared instead of coming off.

if you are not a hardcore wheeler dont do it it will hurt the trucks value, just do it with regular paint dont like it repaint easy as that cant do the same with bed liner

2X^ Honestly, unless you're thrashing it against rocks or through the trees, I wouldn't even bother. Besides, if you are indeed doing so, then a proper aftermarket plated/tube bumper would be more suitable. Just my opinion, but I really don't think that bedliner looks good on anything except a truck bed....BigFish's rig looks really clean, but would look a hole lot better without the bedlined flares and rear bumper.

I really like the look of your rig SCRunner, and think that with some nice rubber it would look even better! I'm not sure what you have planned for it, bumpers or whatever, but I would just go that route if you want more protection. Besides, if you plan on re-selling the used bumpers, you'll get more cash for them if they aren't bedlined.

Again, just my opinion, and hope it doesn't insult anyone....:lookout:

Thanks for the responses. Yeah I wasn't too into the texture and once CJ said it is pretty much permanant I'm over it. I'm just going to wait till I have the cash to make the change, if I ever really want to.

Honestly I don't really know where I'm taking this build. As of now, I can justify aftermarket bumpers, winches and going real hardcore. I don't have the finances or the time at this point in my life.

I'm not a fan of certain bedliner textures either but I'll have to say that the Raptor/Upol kit I got off ebay turned out really nice. I think the directions say to spray at 40 PSI (maybe?) but I sprayed around 80 PSI and it looked awesome. I highly recommend spraying with an oil based paint directly over the bedliner and this will keep it the color you want without worry of fading.

I have ordered the kits from U POL and my Land Cruiser is completely primered and ready to shoot. I definetley like the look you have on yours, question's stands: what oil base paint did you use? so, I shoot the raptor liner,it dries and then follow up with the oil based right? Any advice helps.

I say paint the flares/bumpers black SCRunner! It would look sooo good against the red. Especially with the windows and the wheels and emblems and license plate housing!

I want to Zach, but I'm still debating saving up for professional paint or a different route. I would love to do it, but it's not a necessary mod and that money could go towards a bumper, s/c or projector retrofit. I might just plasti-dip then spray paint over so I can always go back to stock before really doing it right.
