So I've decided to start my build thread. This is my second 4Runner, I owned a 2nd gen awhile back then sold it for a 02 Nissan Xterra. The Xterra exploded on me after a girl was three times the legal limit drunk driving east bound in the west bound lanes on the highway. We ended up hitting head on and my xterra exploded on impact. I broke my collar bone and sliced my legs open pretty good from the lap seat belt. The cops said it was equivalent top hitting a brick wall at 140 mph.

After that I got the insurance money and bought a 1999 4Runner SR5 4WD.

I've owned the 4R for a few years now I'm finally getting to do the mods I've wanted to do since the day I bought it. I have a long list of "things to do" but so far i have the 3" Toytec/Eibach coils and Bilstein 5100 Adjustable shocks in the front and LC 8 wraps in the rear.

My next mods on the list are either front and rear lockers or just a rear locker, re-gear, plate bumpers front and rear and the 231mm brake upgrade. I'm sure I'll find quite a few more but it's a start.

what setting do you have the front bilstiens at ? i know on the toytech website it says if you have a lift keep them at the lowest setting but i dont see how that makes sense
 
Wow glad you made it out of that whole mess man, welcome to the 4R club. Quick question -- do you know what color codes your 8 wraps are? It may be your 265's, but those 8 wraps look like 9 wraps almost.

I'm also glad to see this thread because this is the exact same lift i am looking at doing to replace my revtek lift kit. Sweet looking ride. Do you mind confirming which LC coils you used?

Also how's the ride? Any pandhard drop or other special parts?
 
I got the 8 wrap LC coils from DuHockey on here. I like the ride but I need to drop my pan hard bracket down. I'm not sure if its because of the pan hard but I feel my rear end wants to kick or pull towards the passenger side over bumps. If you go with the 3" lift coils and 5100's buy new top plates. I ended up ordering new ones after my lift arrived from Toytec and it was stressful waiting for the top plates to arrive. I literally watched the UPS tracking screen day and night. After the initial install the rear was raked like no other but now everything is settled and I've got a 1 1/2" rake now and it sits nice.
 
KellyJ- My LC coils are purple/green/white color codes on both sides. They feel pretty tall so I can't imagine what 9 wraps would look like.
 
Ok. Cool and thanks for the info. I've got the Double Pink Light Blue White 7.5 wraps (19") and Double Pink Grey White 7.5 wraps (18.5") so I am thinking that with the toytec springs and shocks I've got picked should be stitting with a 1" rake or so. Plans made and fingers crossed.
 
Just curious, did you feel at all inclined to get another Xterra cuz you made it amazingly through this horrific event? Or did you feel like it was trying to kill you by exploding so you got a Runner? Sorry ya had to go through that and hope your recovery was a full one. And sweeeeeet runner btw!
 
I had my Xterra for long enough to drive it in quite a few different scenarios and I wasn't that impressed with its off-road handling. The only thing I really liked was the stadium style seating with the 2nd row higher then the front seats. Owning a 4Runner gives me confidence in the quality and capabilities. The Xterra lacked the confidence in quality and capabilities.
 
I really like the eibach/5100 setup. I'm questioning how it will hold up when i get a TJM or ARB front bumper being that Toytec recommends using it with the stock bumper. Right now with the stock bumper it feels good and it handles very nicely. I do alot of fly fishing in the back country and I drive alot of gravel/un-improved roads and it feels well planted on the ground at speeds of 30-45mph. The same roads would feel sketchy at 20-25mph. Mostly it felt like the front end was floating. Since I'm running the 8 wrap LC's I would have liked to get another 1/2" up front but over all I'm very happy.
 
Good to heard you're ok. Hopefully you guys learned a valuable lesson there.

For my ISR Mod I happen to know a guy with a machine shop who does CNC manufacturing. I gave him some dimensions from the ISR Mod Thread and he came up with this. The side walls may be a little thick. I may trim the thickness down a little bit more

it's solid aluminum, I may take the walls a little thinner. Would a thicker wall hold heat more or would a thin wall hold more heat?
