I sell a lot, I mean A LOT of the Gibson's. I've sold probably 4-5 S&B's paired with the Gibson's. It's a newer intake so not everyone knows about it yet. I've driven after install and the intake kinda makes everything a little quieter. I mean you can't pick up the tone of the exhaust quite as much, and it's balances it out nicely. The intake gives you more low end grunt, and then higher rpm passing power.

Personally. I love the clear window as it lets you see and monitor how dirty the filter is getting. I've had others (on the Titan forum) add LED lights in the box and some have engraved it with some pretty cool things on the box lid (any trophy engraving place or shop in the mall can do it cheap) attached a pic.

Compatibility question

Is this intake compatible with:
1) Second Battery mounted in front right position?
a) This would include the air pump relocated to the rear right corner of the engine compartment on a Shrockworks relo bracket

2) ARB or TJM snorkels?

Unfortunately no pics, as I have those components, but they are not installed yet. I was asking in an attempt to prevent any issues I might run into.

I will wait until I get them installed and then take some measurements.

Looks nice. So made in California? So it'll pass our CA smog tests okay and available to buy in CA? I think the K&N isn't legal to sell in CA or was it another brand?

Any problems with check engine light after install? I used to have a Camaro SS and that was a problem installing a CAI. Messes with the sensors.

Yes, made in California, the box, the filter, everything made in CA. This is why I like these as they always fit good, vs others that mix components made in other countries. No check engine light with this! Also, it's been submitted for carb in ca but it takes time. IF you're in ca, call or text me 717-319-2100

From S&B: Jason, I'm not 100% sure on the 4runner but we had a customer with a 17 Tacoma that could not fit the ARB compressor there with our air box. This box is as big as possible to get the biggest filter possible and the most air (+43.47% air flow improvement over stock intake). Looking at the photo on the product page it shows the kit installed, it doesn't look like there's much room for the compressors or the battery. I do know that our kit will not work with any snorkels and its not designed to be water tight.

Looks like this is not the intake for me then, oh well, thanks for checking. Intersting they dont want to actually measure and find out for sure but also the fact that its not compatible with a snorkel makes it pretty useless for a lot of offroaders on here
 
Does this help those of use that live at 5k feet and spend a lot of time in 8k - 10k feet altitudes?

It should help on highway if you drive how you normally always drove before you put it in. People hav a habit of flooring it all the time after they install it, to test out the new power and the awesome sound. It's just fun, but that part won't help with gas :)

Yes, there are two choices of filters. Oiled (re-useable and cleanable, lasts for life) or the dry (same price, throw away after 30k miles and buy new)

This intake gives a 43% increase in airflow over the stock toyota intake with the front plug out, and 37% increase with the plug in. See more in the 10 page pdf comparing cfm testing vs the stock toyota intake.

I've now sold about 10 of these with good feedback. Just wanted to do a bump for those that may now have seen this. It's the least expensive option for a cold air intake with a new airbox and I still think it's one of the best.

The simple answer is that the horsepower and torque gains will depend on your vehicle and your particular driving conditions. Improving the airflow to your engine has been shown to increase horsepower. With that being said, S&B doesn't publish horsepower numbers because of the inaccurate and outlandish claims made by many of their competitors. Instead, they test to the ISO 5011 Filtration Standard and publish the airflow, efficiency, and capacity data on the product pages found on their website. This is the internationally accepted standard for testing filters and intake systems, so they can hold their competition accountable if they make an incorrect claim.

I haven't talked to any customers that have had the their 4runner on a dyno, but did have this kit on a 2015 Taco with the 4.0 and noticed good improvements in throttle response, low end torque, and top end power.

I'd like to see some dyno numbers as well, all they advertise is the 43% air flow increase, but every cone filter intake will give you at least a 40% increase in air intake.
