Sacramento/Foothills Area Trail Run Oct. 28 2017

Hi All:
Short notice, but I'm going to try to pull together a trail run this Saturday 10/28/2017 for anyone interested in going.

I still need to research the trails and FS roads some... but I'm thinking of running Plummer Ridge trail (west to east) then picking up the Baltic Ridge trail (off Mormon Emigrant road) and running it east to west (back towards Sly Park).

Depending on the sources reviewed (mine were: 4x4TrailMaps - Plummer Ridge Trail and https://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail.aspx?trailid=BGS135-063), they are supposed to be Moderate (like 3 or 4 out of 10 difficultly) trails doable for stock high-clearance 4x4's.

I figure we can meet up at 9:00AM at the Starbucks in Martel/Jackson area (11248 Old Mill Ln #40, Jackson, CA 95642) and then take the HWY88 route in.

Yay!! I'm in, and possibly my Jeep buddy. I think [MENTION=166246]bpchura[/MENTION] said he's busy this weekend.. :(
 
You planning on starting coming in off Omo ranch rd after the 88?
Does the Plummer ridge take you up to a look out tower?

Been so long since I used to venture them back roads from Omo ranch cut over to MET and Silver fork. Can't remember what roads I took, but out site seeing, looking for streams to fish, and seeing which roads where cut through or dead ends.

Sounds like you going for a Sunday cruse to me, LOL. It is beautiful back in there.
Might be game for this to get away from the city, see how tired I am by then.
 
Would be interested but this is promised family weekend time. Otherwise I would be in! Unless other people are bringing spouse and kid.
 
Would love to join, and thanks for the heads up. Don't think we'll be back by then, though. Currently at Alabama Hill, entering Death Valley tomorrow for the week. Have fun!

Well... yeah, it could be a long day... but I am shooting for a good full day - not too long. My info (guide books and some internet research... hey it has to be true... its on the web :biggrin2:) put each at about 1 to 2 hours... Plus there are opportunities to get back to 88 or to Mormon Emigrant road if things go slower than anticipated and we run out of daylight. So, I was thinking it would be worth a try to get both of them in.

I know what you mean about the husband debt... if you get a reprieve join us!

Yes, planning to head up HWY88, then cut over to Omo Ranch area and then hit the trail going east. Im not sure if there is a look out tower on the section I have GPS coordinates for or not.

Yeah, Im hoping the road conditions will all be good and it'll be a bit of a Sunday drive (on a Saturday lol) ... I agree, its beautiful territory and my goal is a nice day enjoying it all.

I hear you... I'm cashing in some chips to get away (my wife and kids are sitting this one out). I'm cool if you'd like to bring your family... I dont exactly know who all will be attending... but the run I put together in Sept. had a few Mrs. in attendance.

No, havent done Barrett... *yet* I think I'd like to... but pretty sure I need bigger tires and locker... not to mention a little more experience.

Yeah, saw your other post about putting the RTT through trials... Awesome picture. AL Hills / Death Valley are on my long term bucket list. I'll be interested in seeing the rest of the pictures and hearing the report out. Safe travels.

My gf might tag along if her schedule opens up.

My buddy with his Jeep, if he doesn't get called in for work, then he'll bring his wife.

One of these weekends, we should go out there... The Eastern Sierras is my go to place for camping/wheeling. Just so beautiful out there, and you'll probably make over 100miles of trail before heading back. It's amazing... Minus.. Coming down Coyote Flats, and having to back up for a Jeep on the narrowest section of the one laned switch backs...

...Maybe I just have bad luck with Jeeps? :lmao:

Oh man this is tempting. Too bad its not an overnight trip. But I may still come out for it. Need to get this rig on a couple of trails before winter hits. Blown engine screwed me on so many meetups/trail drives this summer

Yeah it's gonna take an act of god at this point... I can already feel the resentment overloading hahaha. 5 additional hours of driving for me just to get out there and back, not to mention the time to wheel. Makes for a long ass day. If it changes, I'll let ya'll know. But for now, signs are certainly pointing to a negative. Bummed.
