Safari Snorkel confirms snorkel for 4th-gen coming

Are these to be setup for actual water?.. When I worked for state department we had tons of Toyota products... and in several African countries yes, these had snorkels. But these earlier snorkels were in NO WAY waterproof.. they were made to avoid dust (main issue I saw this on a daily basis was Sudan). These snorkels had seams in them and if sealed both ends, top and bottom, then submerged,.. they would fill via the seams. We would seal them up with various silicone products or plastic welding (drove a few in moister areas like this - Sierra Leone for one).

Shouldn't be an issue if the newer ones are one piece and all the connections are also water-tight but, I'd have to see one before I waste $$ on one.

Safari snorkels are sealed up, as long as the install is done properly.. Not a waste of money compared to having to replace or rebuild a motor due to water ingestion. Of course the snorkel isn't the only thing you will have to worry about if you get stuck in water up to your windshield..

Okay then they are one piece. I was speaking from dealing with these for several years on hundreds of vehicles. Good to see there's now one rated for water... and we have had several engines replaced/rebuilt with awesome snorkels where they have allowed water ingress.

I emailed a client of mine at ARB last week hoping I could get some info on it and he said early next year, but wouldn't specify. 6 months ago, he said November. Who knows.

Seems to me that ARB needs to make two versions for the 4th gen 4runner.

The fender flares of the 2003-2005 are different from the 2006-2009 4runner flares.

So this leaves me to believe ARB had to make two different versions of the Snorkel??

I'm probably gonna retro fit one. From a different company. They said a year, one year ago. Dissapointing.
